Adding A Branded Mobile Welcome Screen in Wix | Wix Website Tutorial

Wix Nation, what's up? It's MPS here from Wix Training Academy, and I am thrilled to be bringing you another video.

Today what we're going to discuss is, creating a mobile welcome screen for your website. For those of you that don't know, mobile now is more important than ever as Google is using it heavily to determine your search engine rankings. And also people are just on mobile devices. If you've got a crappy mobile website, you're leaving a lot of opportunity on the table. So let's fix that today and at least make a great first introduction when people land on your mobile site.

So how do we do it? Well, what we're going to do is we're going to go up here to switch to mobile. Yes, you do have a mobile editor. If you did not know that you'll notice my mobile site right now, pretty junky that's because I haven't optimized the mobile site for this social network yet. But what I'm going to show you today is how to create that mobile welcome screen.

So you're going to see a few options over here. You've got kind of like a mini tool panel for your mobile editor like you would for the desktop editor. We're going to go over here to mobile tools and you're going to see a bunch of different options, but you're going to see welcome screen. We're going to go ahead and click, add to site. When we do that, we've got this awesome tool that allows us to create an immediate welcome screen while it's loading for the website. So how do we do it? Well, you can play the animation so you can see what type of animation you got going on.

First and foremost, you might want to choose what animation you have. Maybe it's a blur in, and then it'll blur the logo in like that. Or maybe it's a flow in, and then it floats in like that you can even change the background animation too. So maybe you want it to fade in like that or expand in like that. Or our traditional slide, I kind of liked the slide and then let's see, expand, expand is nice. But I like the slide and I like blur the only problem with blurs. It takes a little bit of time. So we're going to go with expand, right?

You can change the background color. I personally liked this color right now, but you can change it. So whatever that background is to help direct whatever your branding is, you might want to change the coloring to match that you can choose the direction. Does it come from the left? Does it come from the right? Does it come from the top? Does it come from the bottom? I liked when it came from the left.

Then more importantly, what you can do is you can add your logo, right? So you want this to be one of the first interactions people have with your mobile site. So if you come in here to image, I'm just going to pull a random image here and I'm just going to pretend this picture me is my logo. So I know this doesn't look good. It doesn't definitely doesn't look as good as what we just had in there. Even that fake logo look much better than this. This is blocky, it's not transparent, all that good stuff you want with a logo, but you can play it, right? So you can see how it looks in just like that. You've got a mobile welcome screen here.

So it'll load up with this. Then it'll take them right to your website. You click done. And then bam, you've got yourself, a mobile welcome screen. And now you've just appealed to the mobile visitors coming to your website because quite frankly, those are some very, very important visits. And you want them to spend some time on your site. And one of the ways to do that is using those five seconds you have in when they land on your website to capture their attention and using this little loading welcome screen is a great way to do that because the longer someone stays on your site on mobile is the longer that Google recognizes that and reads that they've spent some significant time on your website. And that's the goal, right? Because more time on page means better results in Google. Google wants to see that you've been creating, engaging content.
